JK Rowling Defends Depp’s casting in Fantastic Beasts Movie

It seems people are not very happy with the casting of Johnny Depp in Fantastic Beast Movie. But J.K. Rowling has come forward in support and commented on Johnny Depp’s casting in the Harry Potter prequel Fantastic Beasts today. She said that it is the right thing for the audience and “the right thing” for the upcoming sequel as well.

JK Rowling’s comments mark the point in this ongoing controversy that started back at the original release of the first film in the new series Fantastic Beasts. If you have seen the movie, you probably would be knowing what happened at the end of the movie. The end of the movie reveals that the film’s antagonist, Colin Farrell is the infamous wizard Grindelwald in disguise. When his true identity gets finally revealed, his short appearance is being played by actor, Johnny Depp.

This revelation had provoked some backlash in social media, given that a few months before Fantastic Beasts’ release, Johnny Depp had been accused of verbal & physical abuse by Amber Heard, who also filed for divorce and also filed a restraining order against Depp.

Just after two days of the application, the two later reached the final settlement and also released a joint statement, saying “there was no physical or emotional harm” in their relationship, which also marked the matter as closed for some people.

Warner Bros. also made an official announcement via Deadline about the issue and brought more clarity to it. That’s in line with Rowling’s: “We are entirely aware of reports that surfaced around the end regarding Johnny Depp’s marriage and we also take it seriously understanding the complexity of the issues involved…”

These statements that people are making whether it’s in favor or opposition won’t shut down the controversy over Depp’s casting. But whether you like it or not, Dep’s fans around the world have been answered and Depp is surely going to play Grindelwald for the next Fantastic Beasts movie.
